Some birds are prone to 'flying south for the winter' when weather becomes too cold, land too inhospitable and prey too hard to come by. It is left up to you whether you want your character to do one of three things: - STAY HERE - for whatever reason, your character is rendered unable, or unwilling, to leave the region, and therefore you continue roleplaying through winter. Common reasons for staying are injury, romance, a badly-timed nest, or simply personal preference ("I like the cold! It's bracing!").
- FLY SOUTH - your character migrates elsewhere for the duration of the winter season. You ignore that account until spring arrives. Until then you may take a break, or simply switch over to (or create) a different account/character - one that is not prone to migration.
- HIBERNATE - your character goes into hibernation. It has stocked up on food, it has found a place to stay warm and dry through the winter months, and it is happy to simply stay where it is - usually sleeping, or possibly just staying in one place and becoming a chatterbox to anyone who happens to visit. Either ignore the account for the winter, or have the bird continue roleplaying.
Of course, there are many types of birds that do not normally migrate south for the winter. For these birds, merely keep going as normal.
