:: VITALS ::
NAME:: Darwin
NICKNAME:: Winnie, but only to close friends
GENDER:: Female
AGE:: 20 years
SPECIES:: Waved Albatross
PERSONALITY::
Darwin is a complex onion of an albatross, and she only rarely lets anyone see past the first few layers. Superficially she is standoffish at best, irascible and aristocratic at worst. She keeps to herself whenever possible and is guarded in conversation when she deigns to interact with others; unfortunately, this only intensifies the melancholy she is prone to falling into. Though she wants desperately to gain respect of other birds, she is so afraid of failure that she finds it difficult, and is further hampered by her tendency to be disdainful of anyone outside her species. She is also cynical and mistrusting, one reason she keeps her secrets so close.
:: PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION ::
She is large for her species, but is otherwise unremarkable in appearance. Like other waved albatrosses, she has dark brown wings and body, fading to light grey barring on the chest, paling further to an off-white head and neck. Beady black eyes miss nothing, sitting above a long beak of buttercup yellow. Blue webbed feet provide the finishing touches.
:: HEART&SOUL ::
FRIENDSHIP:: Winnie is ancient and prickly, easily irritated by the presence of other birds. Though she sometimes chooses to tolerate others, it is difficult to get past this resignation to actual friendship.
LOVE:: She has lost her mate to the vagaries of a hard-knock life and is completely uninterested in finding a replacement.
LIKES::
- Alone time
- A good headwind
- Dawn
- Rain
DISLIKES::
- Jokes, especially when they’re played on her
- Birds inquiring into her past
- Being teased about her age
- Gossips
FEARS::
- Loss
- Sharks
- Crowds
CALL::
Wandering albatross, noise can be heard near the beginning and end of video
Waved albatross, courtship
Though she has these kazoo-like sounds in her repertoire, she rarely uses them, preferring instead to clack her bill. She usually reserves this to display irritation; it is, therefore, a noise often heard when she is around.
