To clear up any confusion regarding the coloured user legend (currently situated below the 'stats' sidebox), here's a brief explanation of what they all mean.
ADMIN
Hello! It's Sentinel, your friendly neighbourhood administrator! I take care of all the really important stuff in the forum. Think of me as the queen, if you like. I am special and important... right? Haha...
MODERATOR
Global moderators and normal moderators are both this colour. Mods are the staff members of the forum, and they help to keep it all shipshape.
---
PREDATOR
These usually have hooked beaks and sharp talons. They feed on mammals - and sometimes other birds!
Examples: eagles, hawks, falcons
SCAVENGER
These eat the rest of the carcasses the predators leave behind. Doesn't sound very tasty to you, maybe, but it's a vital job to prevent 'litter'...
Examples: crows, vultures
TROPICAL
These birds are often colourful and unusual. They usually hail from rainforests or other foreign places.
Examples: flamingo, parrot, lyrebird
FLIGHTLESS
Birds that cannot fly/do not have wings fit into this category.
Examples: kiwi, chicken
SMALL BIRD
Small, common birds that you probably see every day in your garden or perched on power lines are collectively classed as 'small birds' on this site, for the sake of saving work (and not being pedantic).
Examples: robin, blue tit, wren
AQUATIC
This category is for birds which have webbed feet, flat bills, live on a fish diet and/or spend most of their time in the water.
Examples: duck, swan, puffin, penguin
NOCTURNAL
This category includes birds that sleep in the daytime and do most of their daily business at night.
Examples: owl, snipe
NON-BIRD
Exactly what it says on the tin; this category is for characters that are not birds at all. See the character restrictions for information on how to RP as a non-bird character.
Examples: squirrel, fox, badger
